The Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X is the all-around model in the 2022 Zenon family: one-piece X-Mag frame, C6 carbon side plates, IVCB-4 centrifugal brake, A-SYM body, about 145 g. Gear ratios of 6.8:1 and 8.3:1 (SHS), right- and left-hand retrieve.

Frequently asked questions about tuning the Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X

Which spool bearings fit the Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X?

The Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X uses spool bearings in 5x11x4 and 3x10x4 (inner × outer × width in mm). You'll find matching tuning spool bearings in exactly this size on this page under the tuning parts. To swap them on this reel you need a Pin Remover, because the bearings are secured to the shaft with pins.

Which bearing class do we recommend for the Zenon MG-X?

For the Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X we recommend APEX, our highest tuning level. It gets the maximum casting distance and smoothness out of the reel and is especially worth it if you cast light lures or want every last bit of performance. The recommendation is based on how this reel is typically used.

Which handle and knobs fit the Zenon MG-X?

The handle fitting of the Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X is 8x5 (wrench size × shaft diameter in mm). Every tuning handle with a 8x5 fitting fits directly. Abu Garcia uses its own knob fitting, so tuning knobs usually don't fit the stock handle. The solution is a complete tuning handle with matching knobs.

Do I need special tools to change the bearings on the Zenon MG-X?

Yes. On the Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X the spool bearings are secured to the spool shaft with pins. A Pin Remover lets you pull the pins out cleanly without bending the shaft. Apart from that you only need a suitable screwdriver for the side plate.

Can you install the tuning on my Zenon MG-X?

Yes. Send us your Abu Garcia Zenon MG-X, we'll install the tuning parts professionally, clean and oil the reel and send it back ready to fish. You'll find the tuning service via the button above.
