Roro Lure is a brand founded in 2018 that, despite its name, does not focus on lures but on tuning parts and tools for fishing reels. The focus is clearly on the Bait Finesse System Casting, or BFS: everything you need to tune a baitcaster for light lures under 5 grams.
What has made Roro Lure one of the well-known names in the international BFS scene within a few years is the combination of specialization and product depth. The range now includes Microcast Spools, SIC ceramic ball bearings, handle bearings, bearing stopper rings, knobs, spool cases, tools like knob cap removers, bearing check tools, trust wrenches, and accessories for your own workshop. This covers the complete tuning ecosystem that a BFS angler needs.
The Roro X Spool is the brand’s Microcast spool line and the bestseller. Aluminum spools with reduced depth and significantly reduced weight, model-specific for the most important BFS reels.
Examples from the current range:
The technical effect is the same as with other Microcast Spools on the market: the lower weight of the spool reduces inertia during the cast. The spool engages with ultra-light lures where original spools simply don’t move. Roro X Spools are often priced somewhat lower than the most established premium brands, without any visible compromise in material or workmanship quality. A very serious alternative for many BFS beginners and advanced anglers alike.
Besides the spools, the second pillar of the range is the bearing line with SIC ceramic balls. SIC stands for silicon carbide, one of the hardest technical ceramic materials. Compared to standard steel bearings, this means:
The Roro SIC Bearings are available in common spool bearing sizes (730, 830, 1030, 1150) and fit most Shimano, Daiwa, and Abu baitcasters. Also available as a complete set combined with the Roro X Spool.
Roro Lure has built a very strong tool section designed for the DIY tuner. If you do your own reel tuning, you’ll find practically everything you need here:
Handle Knob Cap Remover: a small special tool for removing knob end caps without damaging the knobs. A must-have tool for frequent knob changes.
Bearing Check Tool: to check bearing rotation performance. It clamps the bearing and lets you measure rotation time to detect wear or defects before installing the bearing in the reel.
Trust Wrench: a special tool for loosening spool shaft nuts and other fasteners without damaging the material.
Bearing Stopper Rings: small retaining rings for precise installation of bearings on the spool shaft.
Roro Lure has also developed its own range in the knob area. Various materials and sizes, often with stainless steel ball bearings inside for minimal rotational resistance. The range is complemented by spool cases, storage cases for the Microcast spools, which are often very light and therefore quite delicate. Anyone using multiple spools for different setups simultaneously will hardly do without a spool case.
The brand describes itself as a "group of fanatics who love lure fishing." Despite specializing in tuning hardware, the connection to practical fishing remains central, and new products are regularly developed based on feedback from the international BFS community. With this, Roro Lure has secured a firm place alongside the established Japanese tuning brands within just a few years.
