The knobs from SLP Works, RCS, and Megabass are designed exclusively for DAIWA Reels with Shaft Type S. Therefore, they fit cleanly and without adjustments only on corresponding Daiwa handles.
The reason is simple, as the diameter and design of the handle shafts differ, causing the knobs not to fit correctly on Shimano or Gomexus.
If you are one of those who like to go a bit further, there is still a possibility. With our in-house
RL-TNG Carbon Handles
you can also use SLP Works, RCS, and Megabass knobs on other setups.
Note: This solution is aimed at experienced users, as here you leave the standard range and consciously move towards individual tuning.
The right crank knob (knob) significantly influences the grip feel, control, and comfort while fishing. Depending on the fishing technique, reel size, and personal preference, a different knob may be more suitable.
Knob size is usually specified by the diameter at the thickest point – not by the length. This diameter determines how much contact area your hand has with the knob.
Typical use: BFS, finesse, ultralight baitcasters
Typical use: allround baitcasters, zander, perch, pike
Typical use: pike, larger lures, stronger reels
Typical use: bigbait, large swimbaits, saltwater
Basically, larger knobs can also be mounted on smaller reels as long as the fitting matches. Technically, this is often possible.
However, you should pay attention to choosing a knob size that makes sense for the reel. A very large or heavy knob can significantly accelerate the crank due to its own weight and the resulting centrifugal force, more than some light reels are designed for.
Especially with very light baitcaster reels, BFS reels, or finely built gearboxes, a knob that is too large can increase the load on the mechanism. In the worst case, this can lead to more wear or even damage to the gearbox over time.
Therefore: just because a knob can be mounted does not automatically make it the best choice for the respective setup. For small and light reels, it is advisable to opt for light and appropriately sized knobs.
Here is a quick guide to which size fits which setup:
Ultimately, choosing the right knob is always a matter of personal grip feel. Many anglers prefer larger knobs for more comfort, while smaller knobs offer more direct feedback from the reel.
The SLP Works Round Cork Knob is the slightly rounder, more comfortable option for anyone who values comfort and a clean grip while cranking. Thanks to its round shape, the knob feels especially natural in the hand, while the cork material provides a warm, grippy feel, making long sessions much more relaxed. 🎣
While angular Power Knobs deliver more pressure, the Round Cork Knob shines in comfort. Especially if you crank a lot or spend long hours by the water, the round shape makes a difference by distributing pressure more evenly and simply feeling more comfortable in the hand.
With about 48 mm length, the knob offers enough surface for clean cranking, while the cork material dampens slight vibrations yet still provides enough feedback. This keeps the setup controlled but not tiring.
Sits perfectly on current Daiwa setups and runs as it should.
For smooth operation, you should also rely on high-quality bearings, because only then does the knob really feel smooth. The Core Knob Bearing Set, 4 pieces gets the maximum out of your setup.
Pro tip: Only tighten screws lightly, as too much pressure prevents the knob from running freely.
If you’re looking for comfort, grip, and relaxed handling, the SLP Works Round Cork Knob is the perfect choice. With cap and bearings, it becomes a setup that not only feels good but also convinces in the long run. 😎
