Kompatibilität – SLP Works, RCS & Megabass Knobs

Die Knobs von SLP Works, RCS und Megabass sind ausschließlich für DAIWA Rollen mit Shaft Typ S ausgelegt. Deshalb passen sie sauber und ohne Anpassungen nur auf entsprechende Daiwa Handles.

Der Grund ist simpel, denn der Durchmesser und die Bauweise der Handle Shafts unterscheiden sich, und dadurch sitzen die Knobs auf Shimano oder Gomexus nicht korrekt.

The right crank knob (Knob) significantly influences the grip feel, control, and comfort while fishing. Depending on the fishing technique, reel size, and personal preference, a different knob may be more suitable.

Knob sizes are usually specified by the diameter at the thickest point – not by the length. This diameter determines how much contact area your hand has with the knob.

Knob Size – The Contact Point to the Reel

18–20 mm – BFS & Ultralight

• Very direct grip feel
• High control with light lures
• Ideal for BFS reels and ultralight setups
• Perfect for precise fishing

Typical use: BFS, finesse, ultralight baitcasters

21–24 mm – Allround

• Good balance of comfort and control
• Very versatile
• Comfortable even during longer fishing sessions

Typical use: allround baitcasters, zander, perch, pike

25–27 mm – Large Grip

• More grip surface
• Better control under higher resistance
• Comfortable when fighting larger fish

Typical use: pike, larger lures, stronger reels

30–40 mm – Bigbait & Saltwater

• Very large grip surface
• Maximum control with high lure resistance
• Relieves hand and forearm

Typical use: bigbait, large swimbaits, saltwater

Important Note on Knob Size

Basically, larger knobs can also be mounted on smaller reels as long as the fitting matches. Technically, this is often possible.

However, you should choose the knob size sensibly for the reel. A very large or heavy knob can accelerate the crank significantly more due to its own weight and the resulting centrifugal force than some lightweight reels are designed for.

Especially with very light baitcasting reels, BFS reels, or finely built gearboxes, a knob that is too large can increase the load on the mechanics. In the worst case, this can lead to more wear or even damage to the gearbox over time.

Therefore: just because a knob can be mounted does not automatically make it the best choice for the respective setup. For small and light reels, it is advisable to opt for lightweight and appropriately sized knobs.

The Right Knob Size for Your Setup

Here is a quick guide to which size fits which setup:

• BFS & Ultralight: 18–20 mm
• Allround Baitcaster: 21–24 mm
• Large Lures / Pike: 25–27 mm
• Bigbait & Saltwater: 30–40 mm

Ultimately, choosing the right knob is always a matter of personal grip feel. Many anglers prefer larger knobs for more comfort, while smaller knobs offer more direct feedback from the reel.
