Details about the ball bearings:

• ZR Ball Bearings: These stainless steel bearings are true all-rounders. Whether you use light 5g or heavy over 50g lures, these bearings will take you further. They offer stable rotational performance and enable significantly greater casting distance, which is especially important for heavier lures. Compared to conventional ceramic bearings, they are not only cheaper but also more durable.
• Surface: open, back shielded, which significantly eases maintenance.

HEDGEHOG STUDIO AIR Ball Bearings:

• General: At full load, all bearings achieve similar distances. However, the AIR series makes it easier to maintain control during shorter casts like pitching. For lighter lures under 20g, the AIR series significantly increases your casting distance.
• AIR BFS vs. AIR Ceramic: While AIR BFS is a cost-effective option, AIR Ceramic offers the best balance whether you use ultralight lures or not.
• Recommendations: For highest performance, choose AIR Ceramic for light lures under 20g and AIR HD Ceramic for heavier lures or saltwater use.

Why use tuning bearings? 

In general, ball bearings installed in the reel from the factory often do not have good rotational properties because a lot of grease and dust prevent smooth running. 

The tuning kit is pre-oiled, the in-house Alchemy Oil from Hedgehog Studio ensures the perfect balance between oil and ball bearings.

The "Kattobi" bearings undergo quality control; they are checked by hand after assembly, and only bearings with excellent rotational performance are allowed to leave the facility.

Therefore, it is not necessary to clean or lubricate the ball bearings. The ball bearings can be used out-of-the-box.
