RL-TNG Complete Ball Bearing Tuning Kit for Daiwa 25 Steez Limited CT SV TW 70

Complete Bearing Tuning Kit for the Daiwa 25 Steez Limited CT SV TW 70: 11 bearings, 3 classes, each position equipped with the class needed there. Tune your Steez Limited so it does exactly what it was built for: extremely low trajectory, full free spool, direct feel all the way to the crank knob.

Construction and Material

The spool contains two APEX Spool Bearings with S30 Hybrid Ceramic Balls at ABEC 9 level, the core of this upgrade. They deliver the most noticeable performance gain on the new Steez Limited: extremely fast spool start, maximum free spool, perfectly matched to the 30 mm G1-Duralumin SV Spool. On the wormshaft, two EDGE OPEN Bearings with S25 Hybrid Ceramic Balls replace the factory stainless steel bearings. The pinion gear gets an EDGE OPEN Bearing without seal for smoother operation in the gear. At the gear support position sits another EDGE bearing for more direct power transmission, and at the drive gear support an EDGE OPEN for stable support in the drive. The four knob positions run on CORE with stainless steel balls, where stability is more important than speed.

Scope of Delivery

  • APEX Spool Bearings with S30 Hybrid Ceramic for extremely fast spool start and maximum free spool
  • EDGE OPEN Wormshaft Bearings with S25 Hybrid Ceramic, replacing the factory plastic bushing
  • EDGE OPEN Pinion Gear Bearing without seal for smoother operation in the gear
  • EDGE OPEN Gear Support Bearing for more direct power transmission
  • EDGE OPEN Drive Gear Support Bearing for stable support in the drive
  • CORE Knob Bearings for play-free, controlled cranking

Performance Characteristics

Noticeable on the first cast. The CT SV spool starts earlier, runs longer, responds to every impulse from the rod tip, and extracts additional casting distance from the Steez, especially with lures under 5 grams. Wormshaft and the Hyperdrive Digigear Gearbox run quieter, the knob turns without noticeable play.

Recommended Use

Classic light to finesse range of 3 to 14 g: small cranks, wakebaits, mini wobblers, drop shot baitcasters, Neko rigs, small Texas rigs, and bait finesse applications for trout perch, perch, zander, and trout.

Good to Know

Ceramic spool bearings run somewhat louder due to the material compared to pure stainless steel bearings; this is due to the higher hardness of the ceramic balls and is not a quality defect but a material property. With the appropriate spool bearing oil, the running noise can be noticeably reduced.

Compatibility

Fits both versions of the Daiwa 25 Steez Limited CT SV TW 70: 70 XH (right hand) and 70 XHL (left hand). Both hand versions are technically identical and use the same bearing layout. The complete model overview is available under the Compatible Baitcaster tab.

FAQ – Spool Bearings for Baitcasting Reels

Yes. For maximum casting distance, smooth spool start, and harmonious running behavior, both relevant spool bearings should always be replaced at the same time.

Only then does the bearing upgrade unfold its full effect.

Our spool bearing sets each include the two relevant bearings for your baitcasting reel.

This gives you the complete solution for a clean and coordinated upgrade.

Installation instructions are not included.

If a bearing is mounted on the spool, it is usually held in place by a small retaining pin.

For a safe and damage-free removal, a Pin Remover is recommended.

This way, you avoid bent pins or damaged spool shafts.

APEX Bearings are ideal for very light to medium casting weights.

EDGE Bearings cover a wide all-round spectrum.

CORE Bearings are designed for higher continuous loads and heavy lures.

What matters is your typical area of use.

Open the sideplate of your reel and remove the spool.

If a bearing is located directly on the spool axle, this is the design with spool bearing.

If there is no bearing there, it is usually located in the sideplate under the spool tension.

For spool bearings, a single, thinly dosed drop of high-quality spool bearing oil is sufficient.

Too much oil creates unnecessary resistance and reduces the rotation speed.

Yes, absolutely. The DC system electronically regulates the brake curve, but it does not replace mechanical friction in the Spool bearing.

A high-quality Spool bearing significantly reduces this friction and noticeably improves the Spool start-up. The Spool starts faster, runs freer, and responds more sensitively.

This is especially noticeable in the light to medium casting weight range.

DC is not a brake against performance, but a complement to mechanical optimization. A precise Spool bearing and the DC system work together, not against each other.
