Knobs for Fishing Reels – Instructions & Compatibility Check

Don't worry – if your reel is not on the compatibility list, that doesn't necessarily mean our knobs won't fit. Many manufacturers use the same knob mounts across several model generations.

With a few simple steps, you can check yourself whether our knobs fit your fishing reel.

Step 1 – Can the knob be removed at all?

First, take a closer look at the handle knob of your reel. On most reels, there is a small cap on top of the knob.

This cap can usually be carefully removed:

  • pried off gently with a small screwdriver
  • or pulled out with a fine needle

Under this cap, you will usually find the screw that attaches the knob to the handle.

Step 2 – Screw or rivet?

Now it gets interesting. Under the cap, you will see either:

  • a screw → perfect, the knob can be easily replaced
  • no screw → the knob is riveted

Riveted knobs are usually found only on very inexpensive reels and generally cannot be easily replaced.

Step 3 – Unscrew the knob

If there is a screw, you can simply loosen it with a small screwdriver. Then the knob can be pulled off the handle.

Step 4 – Measure the shaft

Now measure the shaft of the handle where the knob sits.

For our knobs, the dimensions should be approximately:

  • Diameter: about 4 mm
  • Maximum length: about 27.5 mm

If these dimensions fit, you can usually install our knobs without any problems.
